How to Request a Credit Report

Checking your credit yearly can help prevent identity theft and also help you build credit to qualify and save on loan products, among other things.

Why would I want a copy of my credit report?

Your credit report has information that affects whether you can get a loan – and how much you will have to pay to borrow money. Use a copy of your credit report to:

  • Make sure the information is accurate, complete, and up-to-date before you apply for a loan.
  • Help guard against identity theft. That’s when someone uses your personal information – like your name, your Social Security number, or your credit card number – to commit fraud.

To request a free credit report you have three options:

  1. Request your Credit Report Online
It’s quick, easy and secure. If you are eligible for a no-cost credit report, you will be able to view it and print it after your identity is verified. This website allows you to request a no-cost credit report once every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.
